Question

Help. Part b pls.

3 The diagram shows a pendulum which has a copper bob hanging at one end of a copper wire. The pendulum is oscillating in a strong magnetic field. The upper end of the copper wire is connected to a switch S. The copper bob is connected to the galvanometer using a light and flexible connecting wire. When the switch is closed and the pendulum starts to oscillate, the galvanometer pointer is seen moving left right from the centre zero position. This indicates that there is an induced current flowing. Galvanometer 6 (a) What type of current is induced in the circuit? At which position during the oscillation of the pendulum does the galvanometer show maximum deflection? Explain your answer. (b)

Explanation / Answer

Galvanometer show maximum deflection at position c. It is because at c pendulum has maximum velocity so it passes from magnetic field fastest and hence change of magnetic Flux is maximum so induced EMF and hence induced current is Lso maximum so Galvanometer show maximum deflection.
