Please fill in the table below with the appropriate concentrations at each dilution. Concentration (mg/ml) 60 Absorbance 750 340 2 .180 .08 02 6. You have a mystery solution that has an absorbance of.250. Using just the table in question 5 alone, give an approximation or a range of concentrations that coulcd be that or those of the mystery solution. Please justify your answer.Explanation / Answer
The starting concentration of the protein is 60mg/ ml
if we dilute it serially for every serial dilution the concentraiton will get half of it previous dilution-
thus the concentraiton will be-
concentration (mg/ml) absorbance
60 0.750
30 0.340
15 0.180
7.5 -
3.75 0.08
1.875 -
0.9375 0.02
Based on this table if the mystery solution gives an absorbance of 0.250 , the concentration will be in the range between 15-30ng/ml or approximately 20-22 mg/l.
we can have approximate calculation-
if we get 0.180 absorbance from 15 mg /ml protein
then 0.250 absorbance will have around -15 X 0.250/ 0.180 =20.83 or approximately 21 mg/ ml.
or alternatively,
if we get 0.340 absorbance from 30mg/ ml protein.
then 0.250 absorbance will have around 30 X 0.250/ 0.340=22 mg/ ml
