(a) What is the magnitude of F (b) what is the magn tude of the normal force on the crate? Explanation / Answer

a] Along x direction, the acceleration is zero and so the net force is zero.

So, Fcos26 - mgsin26 = 0

=> F = [mgsin26]/cos26 = mgtan26 = (88 x 9.8 tan26) = 420.62 N

b] Since the crate is not moving along y direction, the net force in y direction must also be zero.

=> R - Fsin26 - mgcos26 = 0

=> R = 959.51 N.

this is the normal reaction force.
