Question 12 8.33334 out of 8.33334 points Vector n-60 m and points 30° north of east. Vector Selected Answer: 2.0 m n angle 30 north of east. Answers: 2.0 m at an angle 30° north of east. 24,0 m and points 30° south of west. The resultant vector A + B is given by 2.0 m at an angle 60° north of east 10.0 m t an angle 60° east of north 10.0 m at an angle 30° north of east. 10.0 m at an angle 60° north of east. Suppose given that Vector is R and it makes angle A with +x-axis, then it's components are given by:
Rx = R*cos A
Ry = R*sin A
Using above rule:
Vector A = 6 m at 30 deg North of east, So
Ax = A*cos theta = 6*cos 30 deg = 5.2 m
Ay = A*sin theta = 6*sin 30 deg = 3 m
Vector B = 4 m at 30 deg South of west, So (Both Bx and By will be negative since vector is in 3rd quadrent)
Bx = -B*cos theta = -4*cos 30 deg = -3.5 m
By = -B*sin theta = -4*sin 30 deg = -2 m
So
A + B = (Ax + Bx) i + (Ay + By) j
A + B = (5.2 - 3.5) i + (3 - 2) j
A + B = 1.7 i + 1 j
|A + B| = sqrt (1.7^2 + 1^2) = 1.97 m = 2.0 m
Direction = arctan (1/1.7) = 30.46 deg
Since A + B, is in 1st quadrent, So angle will be north of east
Which means
A + B = 2.0 m at an angle 30 deg North of East
