For this portion of the adiabatic gas law lab, I have to plot Pressure V Tempera

ID: 1880605 • Letter: F

Question

For this portion of the adiabatic gas law lab, I have to plot Pressure V Temperature and find the slope. I did so in excel and got y=836.3x - 22302.
So 836.3 is the number of moles from the slope. but when I used the ideal gas law equation, I got 0.0092 moles. I know the one from the equation is correct but why is it wrong from excel?

EDIT**

What do you mean its not a straight line? Its a P v T graph, and those are the points I have from the table. Its not completely straight?

Identify the time interval where the isochoric process (in the Volume vs. time graph) occurs. Take the four data points in that interval Time index Pressure Volume Temperature (Pa) m13) 2.8 352.56 4G, 342 2, 3 7 336.246 According to theory PV nRT P = (nR/V) T Plot pressure versus temperature. Is the plot actually linear? Use the slope of the graph to find the number of moles of gas in the cylinder.

Explanation / Answer

p = (nR/V)/ T

so plot of P vs T will give slope of nR/V.

hence n R/V = 836.3

from this we can calculate n because we know R and V from table.

it comes out to be n = 0.0099 mol

the reason for difference in mol calculation from ideal gas equation(0.0092 mol) is that in excel graph, all points do not lie on straight line. so they do not give the exact picture.
