Question
PS: I only need answers for part e) and f).
That's the 3rd time I am posting this question. SO if you get 19 for the first part of e) do it again because its wrong
part f) if you get 19 and 58.1, it is also wrong.
So, I am just saying that because I posted this question 3 times and people keep giving the same wrong answers.
17) A student stands at the edge of a cliff and throws a stone horizontally over the edge with a speed of
vi = 19.0 m/s. The cliff is h = 58.1 m above a body of water as shown in the figure below.
(a) What are the coordinates of the initial position of the stone?
(b) What are the components of the initial velocity of the stone?
(e) Write symbolic equations for the x and y components of the velocity of the stone as a function of time. (Use the following as necessary: vix, g, and t. Indicate the direction of the velocity with the sign of your answer.)

(f) Write symbolic equations for the position of the stone as a function of time. (Use the following as necessary: vix, g, and t. Indicate the direction of the displacement with the sign of your answer.)

xi = 0 m yi = 0 mExplanation / Answer
e)
Final Velocity X and Y components are
Vfx=Vix+axt
Since ax=0
Vfx=Vix =19 m/s
From
Vfy =Viy+ayt
Vfy =0-gt
Vfy=-gt
b)
From
Xf=Xi+Vixt+(1/2)axt2
=>Xf =0+19t+0
Xf=19t
From
Yf=Yi+ViYt+(1/2)ayt2
=>Yf =58.1 +0+(1/2)(g)t2
Yf=58.1-(1/2)gt2
