26 In Fig. 4-36, a stone is projected at a cliff of height h with an initial speed of 42.0 m/s directed at angle 0, 60.0° above the horizontal. The stone strikes at A, 5.50 s after launching. Find (a) the height h of the cliff, (b) the speed of the stone just before impact at A, and (c) the maximum height H reached above the ground FIG. 4-36 Problem 26 27 A certain airplane has a speed of 290.0 km/h and is diving at an angle of 030.0 below the horizontal when the pilot releases a radar de- coy (Fig. 4-37). The horizontal distance between the release point and the point where the decoy strikes the ground is d- 700 m. (a) How long is the de- coy in the air? (b) How high was the release point? Iw FIG. 4-37Problem 27.

Explanation / Answer

26.

a)

Height of the cliff given by 2nd equation of motion

h= u sin 60*t - 0.5gt^2

h= 42 * sin 60* 5.5 - 0.5*9.8* 5.5^2

h= 51.827 m

=======

b)

Vertical velocity before impact

Vy= 42 sin 60 - 9.8*5.5= -17.527 m/s

Horizontal velocity before impact

Vx= 42 cos 60= 21 m/s

Net velocity before impact

V^2= Vy^2+ Vx^2

V= 27.353 m/s

=======

c)

Max height is given by a relation

H= (u sin 60)^2/(2*g)

= (42 sin 60)^2/(2*9.8)

= 67.5 m

======

Plz post other problem separately

Comment in case any doubt.. good luck
