I was wondering if anybody could describe three specific, experimental errors in this lab? This would helpe me out a lot.
REACTION TIME Purpose: to explore the phenomenon of "human reaction time" and to find ways to reduce Background: When we see something happen that requires a response from us, we may think we reaction time error through corporation with your partners react to it in an instant, but this simply isn't true. How much time depends upon many things, not the least of which is our state of alertness! The Task: One person will hold a ruler vertically A second person will hold his or her hand adjacent to the bottom edge of the ruler, ready to grasp it. When the first person lets go of the ruler, the second person will try to catch (grasp) the ruler before it falls past their fingers. . The distance the ruler falls should be measured between the ruler's bottom end and the point where the person caught it. Experimental error is the error caused during the execution of a experiment. There are three types of errors:-
1. Human error- It is caused by mistakes in data entry.
In this case, measurement is done between rulers' bottom end and the point where the person caught it. If the two persons are not still at their positions, then measurements taken by the third person can be wrong. If these two are the only persons performing the experiment, then taking measurements might become difficult and hence their will be higher chance of error.
2.Systematic error- This type of error occurs due to mistakes in the design of experiment. Here the first person has to hold the ruler vertically. If the hands are shaky, the ruler might not be in perfect vertical position. This will lead to error in measurement of the distance.
3.Random error- It is caused by environmental conditions or other unpredictable factors.
This may be caused by the temperature of the day or the humidity in air. The reflexes of the persons performing the experiment also matters.
