the duty of an engineer is not limited to self improvement but also development of his peers. He should continue this development academically along with their professional career by various means.one should be ethical and encourage their subordinates to do the same.There must exist a sense of equality even in an existing hierarchy.

Ans2- In case of civil engineers the hierarchy is quite stringent. It starts as a site engineer put into execution duties which are generally more physically demanding , then he or she goes up the ladder with increasing experience in the field. He moves to position of assistant, superintendent, executive and chief engineers later on.But this promotion is possible only when the person performs his duty skillfully, honestly and tactfully. For example, a project manager is adept to handle situations related to construction difficulties as well as economical and administrative. Although duties are specific and there are subordinates to look after these departments it is his duty to give the final decision. This amount of professionalism and experience can be achieved only if he is up- to date with the current technological advancements and if he attends seminars and conferences related to his area of expertise.But it is also his duty to educate his peers as before he applies these tactics , he must remember its a team effort. The project manager would not be able to implement his ideas if he has labor and staff incapable of understanding their duties related to it.Also his degree of merit must not become a concern or hindrance or cause of hesitation for his subordinates to approach him.This might result in lagging of work and discouragement.
