Question
17.You have been asked to model the dynamics of canine distemper in skunks in Northern California (canine distemper is a SIRS disease if you add vital dynamics). You are concerned that the disease may originate from dogs but could also be shared with the two different skunk species: coyotes, fishers, other weasels, and (the famous) California wolf! The transmission rates among and between all the species may vary, recovery rates certainly do, and even the time scale. Would you approach this problem initially as a simulation or analytical model, Please discuss your approach and defend it (4pt)Explanation / Answer
According to me the above problem can be approached initially by simulation.simulation is the imitation of real process with time.so by develping a model we will be able to identify the key characteristics ,behavoiur ,dynamics, and pathology of this disease.simulation shows the reality of the case, alternative approaches and action to be taken. This should be followed by analytical model to get an accurate information about the orign of the disease.
