List the information given: List the term(s) to find Question 13. What are the estimated allele frequencies in a population if the frequency of the dominant phenotype is 0.64? (Hint: Make sure understand what information you are given.) List the information given: List the term(s) to findExplanation / Answer
Ans. 9 As per the Hardy Weinberg equation we know we know that
p + q = 1
where p = frequency of dominant allele in a trait
q = frequency of recessive allele in trait
0.35 + q = 1
Hence q = 1 - 0.35
therefore q = 0.65 which means the frequency of recessive allele
Ans 10. The term p2 in hardy weinberg equation represents the frequency of genotypes of dominant homozygous.
Ans 11. Homozygous recessive genotype which means q2 = 0.25
Hence q = 0.5
As per the hardy weinberg equation p + q = 1
Therefore p + 0.5 = 1
Hence p = 0.5
Hence the frequency of dominant allele would be 0.5
