Consider the neutral pion decay p0 ? ? + ?. In the p0 rest frame, the photons have equal energies, equal to mpc2/2. Consider a Lorentz frame in which the p0 energy is ep, and in which the photons are emitted symmetrically as shown in the figure.

(a) Determine the angle between the photon directions as a function of ep (Hint: This can be trivially done using 4 vectors. Otherwise, you can note that the photon momenta are equal in magnitude but opposite, and perpendicular to the direction of the pion velocity and apply a Lorentz transformation.)

(b) Calculate 2? for ep = 1 GeV and 10 GeV.
