A. The sauce.

This variable does not depend on any other one. It is the supposed cause of the studied phenomenon and we manipulate it for experimental research.

This variable has 2 treatments: new sauce that is expected to reduce gas problems and the mixture that looks like the new sauce, that is not expected to make a difference in gas problems.

B. Gas problems.

This variable depends on the independent variable (the one we are manipulating). It is the output that is being researched.

C. Group B (the 50 customers that ate a mixture that looks like the new sauce)

The control group is given a treatment that is not expected to affect gas production, so it serves as a benchmark to compare with other tested groups.

D. The krabby patties.
