1b.

The similarity to quorum sensing system in bacteria is that both the viral and bacterial communication in new viral system and quorum sensing system respectively respond via a chemical language i.e small molecules in bacteria and a 6aminoacid peptide in the viral communication system.Both the system respond to the molecule when it is present in a particular concentration.

It is different from quorum sensing in bacteria in a way that in quorum sensing all bacteria perform an activity in synchrony by recognising the molecules released and only when its extracellular amount increases in proportion to the cell number such that the bacteria recognises how many neighbours are there and then all recognise the molecules and all the bacteria perform the activity in synchrony. In case of virus, a virus in an infected cell produces the molecule(6aa peptide) ,the concentration of which does not decide its own fate to either undergo lytic or lysogeny rather the concentration of the molecules acts as a signal for the progeny phages to undergo lysogeny if the concentration is high.This means that the molecules are not sensed by the virus that produces them rather it is sensed by the progeny phages that do not actually produce them.Also, the activity of lysogeny in response to the molecule is not performed in synchrony.
