question: 19-6

For a VCCS, find the output if the input is 5 mV and the trans conductance is 10 mS. Draw the model. For a CCCS, find the output if the input is 5 mA and the current gain is 10. A voltage source of 20 Vrms with an internal resistance of 4 kOhm drives a load resistance Find the value of the load resistance to transfer the maximum load voltage, load current, and load power and the corresponding value of load voltage, current, and power. A current source of 20 mArms with an internal resistance of 4 kOhm drives a load resistance. Find the value of the load resistance to transfer the maximum load voltage, load current, and load power and the corresponding value of load voltage, current, and power. Find the maximum and minimum load voltage, load current, and average load power for the circuit in Figure 19-54.

Explanation / Answer

The practical current source is represented by the source, I in parallel with an internal resistance Rs.

Now this can be converted to voltage source, V = I*Rs with the resistance Rs in series with this voltage source.

So the given current source in the circuit is converted to a voltage source as

V=20 mA*4k = 8 V (rms)

in series with 4kohm resistor.

Now for maximum power transfer we look into the circuit from the load terminals to find the resistance as

RL = 4 kohm as this is the only resistance available

Load Voltage = Vin*4k/(4k+4k) = Vin/2 =8/2 = 4 V (rms)

Load current for this voltage is given as

I = Load voltage/Load resistance = 4/4k = 1 mA (rms)

Load Power = V(rms)*I(rms) = 4*1 = 4 mW
