Question
Use component values from Appendix H to create a first-order RL circuit (see Fig. 7.4) with a time constant of 1 ms. Use a single inductor and a network of resistors, if necessary. Draw your circuit. Suppose the inductor you chose in part (a) has an initial current of 10 mA. Write an expression for the current through the inductor for i 0. Using your result from part (b). calculate the time at which half of the initial energy stored in the inductor has been dissipated by the resistor. Figure P7.4Explanation / Answer
Please ask if you have any doubt.I will help you.
a) Lets choose L = 1H and R = 1 k.
= L/R = 1H / 1k = 1ms.
b) i(t) = Io(1 - e-t/)
= 10mA (1-e-t/1ms) t > 0
c) E(t) = Emax (1-e-t/1ms)2 , t > 0
0.5 Emax = Emax (1-e-t/1ms)2
t = 1.23 ms
Note : There is no appendix A .Therefore i took the values myself.
