Question
FIG. 3.8 Output or collector characteristics for a common-base transistor amplifier. FIG. 3.7 Using the characteristics of FIGS. 3.7 and 3.8, determine IC if VCB = 10 V and VBE = 800 mV. Determine VBE if IC = 5 mA and VCE = 10 V. Repeat part (b) using the characteristics of Fig. 3.10b. Repeat part (b) using the characteristics of Fig. 3.10c. Compare the solutions for VBE for parts (b) through (d). Can the difference be ignored if voltage levels greater than a few volts are typically encountered?Explanation / Answer
a) using fig 3.7 , Vbe = 800 mV & Vcb = 10 V
Intersection seems to be about 10 mA = Ie (not very clear from the jpeg)
b) from fig 3.8, Ic = 5mA & Vcb = 10V , Ie = 5mA
then from gig 3.7 we get Vbe= 0.75 V or 750 mV
You have not provided the pics for Fig 3.10b or 3.10 c
