Question

A circuit is shown above with component values: r1 = 3.3 kohms, R=1.1 kohms, and g = 50 mA/V.

a) Find the Thevenin equivalent resistance between terminals A and B.

b) Find the Thevenin equivalent resistance between terminals C and D with terminals A and B short- circuited.

c) Connect a 1 volt source to terminals A and B with the anode attached to A. Determine the voltage Vout.

*Please forgive my crude drawing I did in paint of the circuit...the Vout has a line sticking out of it because it's supposed to be next to the R resistor, I just ran out of room. The dependant current source has an arrow pointing downward.

Explanation / Answer

(a) Rab = r1 = 3.3k

(b) Rcd = R = 1.1k

(c) Vout = -gmRVin = -50*1.1*1 = -55V
