on #815. Which of the following questions cannot (or should not) be addressed by the scientific method? A. Does God exist? B. Does vitamin C prevent colds? C. What is the role of vitamin C in human health? D. Does a man's beard grow faster on some days compared to others? E. What causes beard growth in males? 2. How did you measure the perimeter of a block of wood? A. submerged it in a pitcher of water B. placed it on a balance (scale) C. placed a measuring tape around it D. compared its color with the color chart on the wall E. counted the number of flat edges on it 3. You fill a pitcher of water to the 500 ml mark. Then you submerge a block of wood into the water and note that the new water level 575 ml. Which of the following statements is correct? A. the weight of the block is 75 ml B. the weight of the block is 575 ml C. the volume of the block is 75 ml D. the volume of the block is 575 ml E. the perimeter of the block is 75 ml

Explanation / Answer

1). "Does God exist?" This is an idealistic Issue for that we concern with Philosopher. Many people believe in god whereas many people do not. There is no need to perform a scientific method to obtain the answer of this question.

Vitamin C is a biological compound. When anyone ask the question to someone (scientist) that “Does vitamin C prevent cold” which can be analyze by performing a scientific method.

Beard growth is a hormonal change which occurs in males. Hormonal secretion is also a scientific measurement.

Hence, the answer is option A- Does God exist

2). To calculate the perimeter of any shape like rectangle, square and circle. For example, We need length and width in case of rectangle. The block of wood may be is square shape, rectangle shape. To know the perimeter we first go for the measurement of length and width of the wood block.

So, answer is option C- placed a measuring tape around it

3). When a block of wood is placed in the pitcher which have water level 500ml after placing the wood block the water level increase at 575 ml because the block of wood takes that place by replacing water at which it placed. The new water level (575ml) shows that the wood block has 75ml of volume (500+75=575ml) that increase the water level of the pitcher.

Hence, the answer is option C- The volume of the block is 75ml

4). Answer is option E- Hypothesis. A hypothesis is based on the previous knowledge or present knowledge. A hypothesis is based on the general law, tentative idea, agree with available observations, simple, possible, testable and potentially falsifiable.

5). A scientific method involves the following steps for a scientific measurement.

1. Observations

2. Hypothesis.

3. Prediction.

4. Perform an experiment.

5. Analyze the results of Performed experiment.

6. Illustrate a conclusion.

7. Account for your results.

Hence, the answer is option D- observations

6). In a metric ruler the largest mark is in centimeter and the smallest mark is in millimeter.

Hence, the answer is option C- 3.5 centimetre

7). The measurement of the scientific method can be done in the process of experimentation after designing a hypothesis.

Hence, the answer is option B- experimentation

8). A control is an observation considered to reduce the property of variables other than the independent variable which increase accuracy of the results by comparison between control and treatments measurements.

Hence, the answer is option A- an unvaried group of sample

9). The answer is option B- his beard grew fastest the day he returned to the island because this statement shows the effect of environment on the growth of the beard.

10). Skepticism means doubt which is important because it forces scientist to be sure what they say is true.

Hence, the answer is option C- it forces scientist to be sure what they say is true.
