Question
It's question #3. Diagram in photois for question 3. If you cant see... it goes like this.
A bowling ball is rolled at an angle to hit a pin. The pin then goes at an angle of 25deg for y-axis to hit the corner pin. What is the angle the ball needs to roll at to get the head pin to hit the corner pin? ELASTIC COLLISION, NO FRICTIONAL FORCES.
Given values...
mass ball = 1.5kg mass head pin = .5kg velocity of ball before collision is 2m/s velocity of pin after collision is 1.8m/s.
Yeah.. super tricky.
Explanation / Answer
1.8 sin 25 =0.761
1.8 cos 25 =1.631
1.631 x 0.5 = 1.5 x =0.5436
0.761 x 0.5 = 1.5 x =0.254
=tan-1 ( /) =64.9554
