Captain Leadfoot and Sergeant Feathertouch begin accelerating in front of their precinct heading east and west, respectively. The captain is traveling with an initial speed of 24m/s, while the sergeant starts with a speed of 6m/s. Right as they pass their precinct, both officers realize that they accidentally took each other's doughnuts earlier in the day. The both brake to a stop in eight seconds. Afterwards, they immediately shift into reverse and accelerate back to the precinct at the same rate they were both braking at (they never stop accelerating). What are the accelerations of each officer?

Please help. I don't know how to approach this problem. Thanks!

ok u have to use: v(t)=a(t)+vo >>consider stopping instant v(t)=0, vo=24 or 6 according to person then t=9sec >>get a1 and a2 for each one of them>>a.captin=-4m/sec^2 a.sergent=-1.5m/sec^2 then use this same acceleration backward>>positive values now, cause question is saying they decelerated and continued this action but in reverse(hypothetical of course) plz rate asap
