You discover a new species of inhabiting a chain of islands.   In one particular location all of the lizards you find are functional males though your analysis of their chromosomes indicates that they are genetic females (these are in fact sex-reversed males!). When you mate one of these sex-reversed males to a normal female (found at another location on a distant island), approximately of the offspring are female and are male. How is sex determined in these lizards? Explain the results of this cross.

Lizard changes sex in response to climate change. Typically lizard inherit two sex chromosome from each of their parents just like human. Boy lizard ZZ and girl lizard has ZW. In most animal species sex chromosome will either decide whether individual is male or female or environmental condition like a temperature of nest will decide.here, sex reversed male is denoted by ZWf mated with normal female ZW

So the offspring will be ZZ, ZWf, ZW, WWf

Here , only 1/3 progeny is male and others are female. Change in temperature lead to the alteration in lizard genome which create change in sex chromosome.
