Two initially uncharged plates of surface area A_2 are then attached to the original plates as shown. Find the charge density on the plates. Explain. Find the electric potential difference between the plates. Explain. Show that the capacitance of the enlarged plates in this case is the same as the capacitance you found in problem 1 of this homework.

a) charge density =charge on plate / surafce area of plate

charge density = Q / A and - Q /A

b) capacitance C = e0 A / d

and Q = CV

V = Q/C = Q / (e0A /d) = (Q*d) /(e0*A)

c) capacitance = e0 A / d
