A healthy diet is always important as a balanced,healthy diet can give a child in its mid childhood or growing period all the nutritions needed.Body needs carbohydrates,proteins,good fats,vitamins,minerals and fibres in proper amount , only a healthy diet can give so. The factors contribute to obesity in school age children are- i) lack of physical activity or any kind of exercises , ii) eating junk and fast foods , iii) spending so much time for indoor games (like video games ) rather to play outdoor and iv) in some cases it can be genetic too. Parents and schools need to do following to decrease obesity rate - i) stop eating any kind of junk foods and rather have a regular healthy diet including lots of fruits and vegetables at home and school. ii) start physical activity or exercise may be for a short time at first but in a regular manner. iii) need to play outdoor and take part in physical education classes,schools need to make team for any games and encourage children for perticipating. iv) regularly check weight and in case of any disturbance consult a doctor. The benefits of physical activities and exercises are - i) when we do any kind of activity it increases the blood circulation in our body , the muscles move ,our body gets more active.ii) activity helps to burn all the stored fats in our body and reduce the obese condition and it helps to digest the food taken by increasing the metabolism rate. Schools can give physical education classes for children and aware them about the benefit of active exercise so that children get to know every thing about physical activity and that will make them courageous to take part , schools can make 'physical education' as compulsory subject so children need to join and progressively they will gain interest.Schools can make games team and arrange interschool competitions so that children get boosted. When I was in middle childhood , in my school we used to have physical training classes and games classes ,we used to enjoy that a lot and all those healthy nutritions and exercises make me healthy till now.
