Question
Two skaters, a man and a woman, are standing on ice. Neglect any friction between the skate blades and the ice. The mass of the man is 97 kg, and the mass of the woman is 52 kg. The woman pushes on the man with a force of 65 N due east. Determine the acceleration (magnitude and direction) of the following.I got the man one correct with 0.67 m/s^2 due east
and I know the woman is due west
I have tried multiple things for the woman and I know +/- 1.25, +/-1.3 or 1.5 doesn't work.. I am doing this on webassign..any suggestions on how to solve this I am stumped.
Explanation / Answer
from the 3rd Law of Newton the woman pushes on the man=theforce the man exerts back to the women (a) the acceleration of the man: a=F/97=0.67m/s2 , the direction due east (b) for the women a=F/52=1.25m/s2 , due West from the 3rd Law of Newton the woman pushes on the man=theforce the man exerts back to the women (a) the acceleration of the man: a=F/97=0.67m/s2 , the direction due east (b) for the women a=F/52=1.25m/s2 , due West from the 3rd Law of Newton the woman pushes on the man=theforce the man exerts back to the women (a) the acceleration of the man: a=F/97=0.67m/s2 , the direction due east (b) for the women a=F/52=1.25m/s2 , due WestRelated Questions
