a) The current depends on the net equivalent resistance of the circuit. The more the equivalent resistance is, the less will be the current. The equivalent resistance for parallel circuits is the least(meaning the current through parallel circuits will be the most) and the current through the series circuit will be the least. Hence the current flowing through R in circuits E, F, C and A are the same.

Current in B is the second most as there are 2 resistors in series. Current in D is the least as there are 3 resistors in series.

Hence the ranking on the basis of currents through the resistor labeled R is
