Gauss's law for magnetism Due in 4 hours, 18 minutes A Gaussian surface in the shape of a right circular cylinder of length 57.4 cm. Each of the end caps has a radius of 26.7 cm. Through one end, there is an inward magnetic flux of 8.0 ?wb. At the other end, there is a uniform magnetic field of 5.4 mT, normal to the surface and directed outward. What is the magnitude of the net magnetic flux through the curved surface? Submit Answer Tries 0/10 What is the direction of the net magnetic flux through the curved surface? Inward Outward Submit Answer Tries 0/10Explanation / Answer
As per Gauss law of magnetism , net flux=0
Flux through one plane surface = 8 muWb (Inward)
Flux through other plane surface = magnetic field x area= 5.4 x 10^-3 x 3.141 x (0.267)^2= 1209mu Wb
(outward)
so
flux through curved surface + Flux through one plane surface +Flux through other plane surface=0
so,
flux through curved surface= -(Flux through one plane surface +Flux through other plane surface)= -8 (I) +
1209(O)) = 1201 mu Wb (inward)
