1. (B)Before closing the switch, the total resistance of the circuit was RA + RB

Once the switch is closed, a new resistance RC is added in partake to the initial circuit. Since additional of a parallel resistance decreases the equivalent ressistare, the total resistance decreases.

2(c). Across the combination of A and B, potential difference remains unchanged by closing the switch, so the current that flows in the resistor A is same as before. Brightness depends upon the power consumption I2R. Since I is same as before and so does the power. Thus the brightness of A remains unchanged
