This video shows two masses on springs, each accompanied by a graph of its position versus time.
Part A
What is an expression for x1(t), the position of mass I as a function of time? Assume that the position is measured in meters and time is measured in seconds.
Express your answer as a function of t. Express numerical constants to three significant figures.
x1(t) =
Part B
What is x2(t), the position of mass II as a function of time? Assume that position is measured in meters and time is measured in seconds.
Express your answer as a function of t. Express numerical constants to three significant figures.
x2(t) =
PEARSONExplanation / Answer
x1(t) = sin(2*pi*t - pi/2)
x2(t) = sin(1*pi*t+pi/2)
in both cases the aplitude of oscullation is 1 m. however both are offset by pi/2 radians on either side hence an offset of pi/2 is added inside the sin equation
