Question
Near the surface of the Earth there is an electric field of about 150V/m which points downward. Two identical balls with mass m= 0.540kg are dropped from a height of 2.30 , but one of the balls is positively charged with Q1 = 850e-6 C , and the second is negatively charged with q2= -850e-6 C .Use conservation of energy to determine the difference in the speed of the two balls when they hit the ground. (Neglect air resistance.)
Could you please explain how to do this. I got two different answers 1.37m/s and .7m/s and they're both wrong.
Explanation / Answer
v1 - v2 = 6.794-6.632 = 0.162 m/s
