Question
I am stuck. I am trying to figure out what I need to do with my data, as far as graphing it, and showing a relationship between my observed data of frequencies and my theoretical range of frequencies. Please help. Here is the data I have collected:Table 1. Test 1 String A “hot pink”, .05 kg mass added to pulley.
Number of antinodes observed: 2, 3, 4, 5.
Frequencies observed (Hz) : 16.95, 25.11, 33.52, 42.07
Frequencies theoretical (Hz): 16.47, 24.69, 32.92, 41.15
Tension on string (N): .50
Wave speed v: 23.07
Linear density of string (kg/m): 9.41e-4
Explanation / Answer
when number of antidotes=2, wavelength= L/1 when number of antidotes=3, wavelength= 2L/3 when number of antidotes=4, wavelength= L/2 when number of antidotes=5, wavelength= 5L/2 length of string can be calculated. Then , we can see how the frequency are matching for each harmonics.
