Question

Steps by steps solution with clear explanation on how to get the answer please.

Thanks in advance! =)

Figure 2 shows a closed circular tank of radius 0.5 m rotating about its vertical axis at an angular velocity of 60 rpm. The height of the tank is 5 m and it is completely filled with water. A small outlet pipe is located at the centre of the top cover of the tank, so that water is posed to the atmosphere. ex (i) Determine the gauge pressure at point B. Gio If the point C is located along the axis of rotation such that its pressure is equal to the pressure at point B, determine the distance OC. Axis of rotation Figure 2

Explanation / Answer

PB= Patm+ ra

=density of water.

r=distance of point from the center of axis of rotation.

a=acceleration of the point=2r=19.74 m/sec2

a) PB= 1*105 + 9869.60 = 1.098*105 Pa.

b)Now, Pc= Patm +gh=PB (Let h be the depth of c.)

so, gh=9869.60

h= 0.9869m or, 98.69 cm.
