Homework 4 Human behavioral traits are quantitative traits. What does it mean? What are these ting human behaviors? Please list them as many as you can. A quantitative trait is defined as a measurable phenotype, that relies on the impact of various genes and the environment. These quantitative traits may vary among different individuals. Human behavioural traits is an example for this trait. This trait depends on various factors such as response of the individuals or peoples around, the background in which the individual is raised, the dignity or the status of the individual in the society etc.
Environmental factors such as pollution and physical environment affect human behaviour. Also, the studies show that people who are vegetarian are less aggressive compared to non-vegetarians. The environment in which a person survives plays a major role in his behaviour. For example, two persons of different financial status responds to a situation in different manner. Similarly, education, the impact of their parents, culture etc also play a major role in human behaviour.
Nature vs Nurture debate is about the whether the human behaviour is decided by either the surroundings in which he/she is raised or the environment. Both these factors play a role in deciding the behaviour of an individual. The surrondings in which an individual is raised definitely reflects in his behaviour. Also, the teachings of his parents, teachers, the friends he interacted during his childhood, his financial status etc decide his behaviour.
The genes play only a small role in deciding the human behaviour. Studies have shown that identical twins may not have a similar behaviour because though they may be raised in similar surrondings the interactions they make may be different and that may cause variations in their behaviour.
