Question

Could someone show me how to calculate time given mass, height, and displacement? Since I don't know velocity for this problem I've been stuck. Here is the full question:

You throw a 154 g ball straight up to a height of 45.0 m.
(a) Assume that the displacement of your hand is 0.70 m as you throw the ball straight up. How long is the ball is in your hand? (in seconds)

(b) Calculate the average force exerted by your hand while you are throwing it. (in N)

(c) Is it OK to neglect the gravitational force on the ball while it is being thrown?

Explanation / Answer

.5 M V2= M gh

V = 29.7 M/SEC

V= U +at

V2= U2+2as

a=630 m/sec2

t=.047 sec

b) f=0.154*630

=97.02

c) yes
