Question
I want to clear on a concept
Dorsal horn sends info to the antereolateral system which is the spinothalamic Tract and goes to the sensory cortex
In this slide why is the info coming from cortex to the dorsal horn? After going to the cortex does the info come back to the dorsal horn
Please explain the process
Thank you
Descending projections contributes to pain modulation Descending regulation can alter the transmission of information from dorsal horn to higher centers Somatic sensory cortex Amygdala Hypothalamus . Yes,after going to the cortex does the info come back to the dorsal horn,Initially the path followed is sending the info to the sensory cortex in brain via the ascending pathway i.e from dorsal horn --- to the antereolateral system which is the spinothalamic tract --- to the sensory cortex. The pain modulation or sensation follows the descending pathway from the cortex to the dorsal horn. The pathway that follows is : the sensory cortex interprets the information as pain and then it goes on to directs the motor cortex that may be present nearby to send information to the thalamus. The thalamus functions to organize the information and then send the pain signal down to the dorsal horn in the spinal cord.
