A phenomenon where a magnetic field exerts a torque on a current loop. The problem is that the torque acts in both directions to restore the loop to its equilibrium position. To make the loop rotate, the torque is turned off in one of the directions. The torque of the loop can be turned off and on by turning the current through the loop off and on.
The figure below show the coil at various orientations at it turns clockwise.
