Question

The critical angle for total internal reflection in a certain media boundary is 57o.

What is the polarizing (Brewster) angle for light externally incident on the same boundary?

Express your answer using two significant figures. p = ? degrees

my work: What am I doing wrong? Is it my calculations????? Please Help!!!!

Critical angle C = 57 degrees

Index of refraction of media n = 1/ sin C

n = 1/sin57 = 2.29

n = tan P

From this Polarizing angle P = tan -1 ( n )

                                               = 1.159 degrees wrong answer!!!!

Explanation / Answer

Critical angle C = 57 degrees Index of refraction of media n = 1/ sin C n = 1/sin57 = 1.19 n = tan P From this Polarizing angle P = tan -1 ( n ) =49.96 degree ya there is calculation mistake.!!!!!
