Question
Two infinitely long straight conductors carry currents of I1=4.5A and I2=8A in the same direction as shown in Figure below. Determine the magnitude and direction(use into the page or out of the page to indicate the direction) of
a.) the net magnetic field at point A
b.)the net magnetic field at point B
c.)the net magnetic field at point C
d.)the magnetic force per unit length the wires ecert on each other.What is the direction of the force of I2?(Use Right or Left to indicate the direction of the force.)

at A,
due to I1, B=0x4.5/2x0.3=7.50/
due to I2,B=0x8/2x0.4=100/
at A,both wires have same field direction i.e coming out of paper,
Net at A=17.50/
at B,
due to I1,B=0x4.5/2x0.05=450/
due to I2,B=0x8/0.1=800/
but the direction will be opposite,
Net=350/ T coming out of the paper
at C,
due to I1,B=0x4.5/2x0.5=4.50/
due to I2,B=0x8/2x0.4=100/
direction will be same i.e going into the plane
Net =14.50/
the force per unit length exerted by the wires on each other is
F=0I1I2/2r
=0x4.5x8/2x0.1
=1800/ N/m
since the direction of current is same,the wires will attract each other,
thus the force on wire 2 to will be
Left
