Question

Guys this is what I did, and what other people also got, but my hoemwork engine won't let me put through and keep on telling me that it's wrong..... I only have 2attempts to submit the answers.. can you please verify where I'm(we're) doing wrong?

power means the real power delivered
I = 120/(385-668 j)
I = 120/(772/_ -60.04)
I = .156/_60.04
P = VxI*
P = 120*.156/_-60.04
P = 18.72*cos-60.04 + 18.72*sin-60.04
P = 9.3486 - 16.218 W
average power supplied ==> active power
Psupplied = Pdissipated = 9.3486 W

We also tried

average power = Vm Im cos?/2

= (Vm/?2)(Im/?2)cos?

= VI cos?

this can also be written as P = I^2 *Z cos?

=====================also tried=========================

X = (2pi fL) - (1/2pifC) = -668?

Z =?(R^2 + X^2) = 772?

I = V/Z = 0.156 A

power by source = VI = 120*0.156 = 18.72 W

power dissipated = I^2*R = 0.156*385 = 9.37 W

(rest power is stored in the inductor)

Explanation / Answer

Current lowing in circuit = 120/[385 + j (wL - 1/wC)]
I= 120 / [385 + j(28.75 - 5333.33)] = 120 / 385 - j5304.58 = 0.0226<85.84°

Now Power= I^2 *R = (0.0226)^2 * 385 = 0.197 Watts
