step1- first we must know what is arterial blood gas?

itis a blood gas test of blood from an artery,that measures the amount of certain gases such s oxygen and carbondioxide.

a) tcpo2-it provides instant continous information about the bodys ability to deliver oxygen to the tissue.

tcpo2 differ from po2 measurement- tcpo2 measurements usually require at least two or three sites to provide a good picture the more sit accessed, the better the oxygenation picture.Transcutaneous oxygen (tcpo2 or TCOM) is particularly useful for wound healing prediction,amputation level determination and qualification for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.it determine the optimum level of amputation.evaluation of revascularization procedures.Quantification of the degree of the peripheral vascular disease.

PO2-It reflects the amount of oxygen gas dissolved in the blood.if the oxygen gas content is increased leads to polycythemia,increased oxygen level in the inhaled air, pulmonary edema,obstructive lung disease. Decrease in oxygen content lead to Heart decompensation,Anxiety,hypoventilation.if oxygen saturation will fall it will lead to inspired oxygen levels are diminished,such as at increased altitudes,acute asthmatic attack.if the oxygen saturation will rise leads to deep or rapid breathing occurs

b)how tcpo2 differ from po2?

It is a major techonological advance made in the area of monitoring it have been developed from the same basics electrodes used in conventional blood gas machines.the skin is heated to enable the skin surface sensor to respond quickly to the gas tensions beneath them.it is being extensively used in neonatal intensive care.it is accepted that under stable conditions puo2.it is a new method of survival prediction.the technique of po2 monitoring will gain under acceptance because it is a noninvasive and continous monitor which provides useful information regarding tissue oxygenation.
