Question

People studied MS or PhD degree in Electrical engineering

How do or did you study??

Do you have your own insights or knowhows on how to studying efficiently?

I graduated with Electrical engineering BS and planning to pursuing MS degree in the US

And after I got out from undergrad, I completely lost how I could start studying the subjects.. and honestly I felt some professors left out the students more confused and wanted to get by with the classes without actually teaching the classes or just giving ridiculously hard questions to get the grade distributions, because there will be always students ace the classes without learning from the lectures or from professors

I am not one of those students always aced the classes and failed some classes couple of times, because of those issues

I tried to solve lots of problems, took decent notes, watched youtubes.. but it seems this is not good enough for me..

I have seen students missed half of the class days still aced the classes

I heard there are lots of students share the old exams and other references keep it for themselves

And I am afraid it would be hard to pass the classes when I start doing MS because I heard there will be lots of students from middle asia or other countries usually keep the important or valuable references for themselves..

I also heard there some people use third party to do the projects and etc.. and I am afraid I will be left out in the class

Please gvie me some real tips and guidances if you have studied MS of PhD in EE

I want to know more and further develop my knowledge in EE or related field of studying.. but I can't seem get the real grasp or know how to fishing...

Please explain how you study in general for the classes or subjects in EE in the US for MS PhD

Do you first solve the problems? and read the chapters if you don't understand, then try watch you tubes if you don't understand it?

Do you discuss your coleagues about how you could knock down the exams and plan out?

What are your steps or methods of studying? What tools (Chegg, old references, etc) have you used?

What made you achieved MS and PhD?

PLEASE GIVE ME THE REAL TIPS, EXPERIENCES AND ADVICE, NOT LIKE SOME GENERAL TALKS OR PHILOSOPHIC STATEMENTS ETC..

I WANT REAL ADVICE FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE STUDIED MS OR PHD

Explanation / Answer

Start your preparation by at least 2 to 3 months earlier to your intended semester.

You can follow these steps:
Take a sample GRE test (Most preferably power prep I). If you score a total of 300 for example, then you can guess your final score to be in between 315-320.

Then analyze your profile (take a note of all research papers you published, going to publish and project work).
Go through the similar profiles in Stupidsid or Edulix and short some universities (around 4 univs).

Then start preparing for GRE and make sure you reach your target of 315.

After the exaam is done, select the 4 universities you shortlisted for Educational Testing Service (ETS) to report your scores to (by this way of selecting universities before hand, you can save $100 here).

Apply for TOEFL or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and prepare to get the minimum score required by your department in the universities selected. (with TOEFL of IELTS – British Council you can save $72 by selecting universities beforehand)

After you are done with these exaams, start preparing your SOP. At the same time, reach out to your professors asking for recommendation letters.

Help them prepare recommendation letters on your behalf. Also get the required no. of sets of transcripts from your university.

Once you are okay with SOP and required LORs, open the university website and fill out the online application. After completing this application, you'll be required to upload scanned copies of mark sheets.

Complete the online application, pay the application fee, wait for university to send a mail with student id and finally courier the transcripts to those universities (Make sure you mention your student id on top of the cover).
Wait for university to mail its decision.
If accepted, they'll ask you to send bank statement showing liquid assets amounting to 1 year of expenses you are going to spend in that university along with affidavit of support (link to this affidavit will be sent to you in the acceptance mail) and also they'll ask you to get some vaccinations done.

After approving your bank statement, they'll send you the I20.
On receiving I20, pay your SEVIS fee and apply for F-1 Student Visas (US).

Once your visa is approved, you are free to go.
