Question
Read the questions below carefully and provide the most accurate, complete answer. Use extra paper if needed. 1.) Describe the step-wise process of how inorganic matter on primitive Earth evolved into multi- cellular, eukaryotic cells. Be sure to provide enough detail with each step and make sure you cover inorganic, organic, protocells, prokaryotic, energetics, eukaryotic, and multi-cellularity (6pts) 2.) Find a current, credible phylogenetic tree representing any group of organisms (your choice)! B paraphyletic groups (make sure the image you choose is complex enough to show all these Draw that tree and on it indicate nodes, synapomorphes, monophyletic, polyphyletic, and groups). Below your drawing, in paragraph form, describe the relationships of four of the members on your tree based on how a phylogenetic tree is interpreted. (5 pts)Explanation / Answer
Question 1 answered
Origin of simple cells is said to have occurred as a four-staged process
A cell comes into the picture but these were simple single membranous cells when inward folding of the plasma membrane gave rise to structures like the nucleus and endoplasmic reticulum/ Prokaryotic cells lacked a nucleus and other double-membraned structures before this event. Some evolved to be aerobic organisms. These were engulfed by other bacteria to form eukaryotic cells with mitochondria forming the ancestral heterotrophic eukaryote. Some of these might have engulfed a photosynthetic bacterium to form ancestral photosynthetic eukaryote. Single cell eukaryotes gave rise to multicellular forms eventually.
