1. Description:-
Physical Process- In this the moto is to make a Hacksaw which can be easily driven with less force and do better cutting operations. For this, I need to attach a Hacksaw with the pedal of a bicycle frame. and a workpiece holding device at one end of the frame. Now Measurement plays the Important role in all this. For this, we should have the measurement of the whole bicycle frame and the design of Connecting rod (Connects hacksaw to the Pedal of Bicycle).
Data Gathering Process:- Data gathering process has a very important role in the project. First of all, we need to make a synopsis of this project which provides the short summary (what actually we are going to do). For collecting the data we can use the Internet and other persons work and papers regarding this project. this will help us to provide some very important and key information. This also helps in calculating the forces required to operate the machine and required dimensions of the frame and connecting rod and angle at which it should be situated.
Time Required to gather the data- Gathering of data does not have a definite time. During the whole project, problems will come and you need to gather and modify data accordingly. But for gathering basic data one month is enough.
Place- Place can be your institute, your workplace and Internet to get the data.
Data Gathering Equipment- Research papers, Measurements, Previous related works, Internet and self-done work.
Problems in gathering data- 1) Sometimes Papers related to the project does not contain the needed information for this we need to do self-study and experiments.
2) Lack of data and research on the topic.
3) Not a fix Schedule
4) Not have a proper flow chart to gather data.
2. Attribute Data:-
After Gathering the data we need to make a prototype on a software like Ansys or ProE etc.this will help in a virtual simulation of the project and also justify the measurement and operations to be done. we can also make some charts regarding the efficiency and accuracy of the project. We can also make a chart regarding time sequence of projecting and cost related things.
3. When all this done you will be able to justify your decision whether the process is going well or not.
4. As I told before that problems will come during the whole process of your work. you need to modify the design according to situations come during prototyping it. Just like making the pedal operated hacksaw the major problem comes to fit the connecting rod with the pedal of the bicycle. It requires the proper space to fit the bearing in the pedal and attach the bearing to the connecting rod.
After that, we find that the stroke length of the hacksaw need to be controlled as hacksaw will go beyond the workpiece in both forward and return stroke. to mitigate this problem we need to shorten the length of pedals.
5. If I conduct this experiment again I will try to add some extra features in it like a lamp to work in night which can be lighten up by using a little dynamo fix to the pedal. Some other modifications also can be done.
