Question

The adiabatic flame temperature is the equilibrium average temperature of the combustion product gases leaving an adiabatic combustor before any heat transfer occurs. This is often a relatively high temperature value. Lower values of the adiabatic flame temperature are achieved when OA The fuel contains oxygen molecules so the theoretical mass of supply air as relatively low. O BNo excess air is supplied in order to maximize the amount of H20 condensation in the exhaust products O CHigher %excess air to dilute the combustion products with additional 02 and N2. O D Fuel contain a large number of carbon atoms and small number of hydrogen atoms to limit the amount of H20 formed. O E All of the above O F None of the above.

Explanation / Answer

Exess amount of air contains excess of N2 along with other gases. Which may reduce concentration of the combustion products which causes lower adiabatic film temperature.

Experimental data shows that (O2+H2) having adiabatic film temperature aproximately 2660 degree centigrade. For (Air+H2) having nearly 2040 degree centigrade which is much lower than oxyhydro adiabatic film temperature.

Hence answer 'C' option.
