a) In turbines with high expansion ratio, the moisture content of the steam leaving the turbine is high. This leads to corrosion of the blades and reduction in the nozzle and blade efficiency. The main purpose of the reheat system is to make use of the high temperature flue gasses to reduce the wetness of the steam by increasing the temperature and pressure of the steam entering the lower stages of turbines. This in turn leads to an increased overall efficiency
