Question
Given you have a 1000 kg automobile with an Otto cycle engine, compression ratio of 10. If there is no air drag or friction in the engine or drive train, what would the fuel consumption be per 100 km travelled (assuming no stopping and starting)? Use the enthalpy of gasoline combustion given in problem 1.52. Assume you have a static coefficient of tire friction of 0.7 and that your stopping distance is 50 m at a velocity of 100 km/s. Compare your result to the actual fuel consumption of this car which is 7 liters/100 km to estimate the real engine losses due to friction and drag.Explanation / Answer
Plz.. post full question as enthalpy of gasoline from problem 1.52 is not given..!!
