Question
i only have one question at the bottom, and i already found the rest, so can someone help me on the last probleem please?
A Diffraction Grating:Laser light is shown through a diffraction grating with a line density of 300 lines/ mm . The 2nd order maximum is measured to be 2.30 m away from the center on a screen that is 4.52 m from the diffraction grating.
What is the wavelength of the laser?
i found the wave length = 756
How many laser dots are visible on the screen (assuming that the wall is large enough)?
i found the laser dots to be 9
3.What is the total distance between the two first order maxima on the wall?
i found also, the total distance = 2.10m
1. so, my question is,If the laser were replaced with a 60 5nmlaser instead, at what distance from the central maximum would the second order be located?
Explanation / Answer
i found your answers were slightly.deviating than mine........
y = m lambda L/d
2.3 = 2*lambda*4.52/(1.0E-3/300)
lambda = 8.48E-7 m
2) d sin theta = m lambda
max m at theta = 90
m = d/lambda = (1.0E-3/300)/8.48E-7=3.93
answer 2m + 1 = 7
3) same as ditance from center to m=2 so
2.3 m
4)
y = 2*605E-9*4.52/(1.0E-3/300)=1.64
