Question
You are given two situations to evaluate, one involves only one battery and the other involves two batteries in series. All batteries are identical and have identical internal resistances (not shown). Use the slider to vary the external resistance R.
What is the relationship between the two circuits regarding the current in the circuit and net internal resistance of the batteries? Explain in detail.
Figure here:

The answer is i(a) = i(b) and rint (a) = 0.5 rint (b) but i dont know how to explain why.
Explanation / Answer
current=v/r
when onlu 1 is present,
current=v/r
when 2 battery are present,
ner resistance=2r
net voltage=v+v
=2v
so the current=2v/2r
=v/r
=ia
so i(a)=i(b)
since they are connected in series,
net resistance=r+r=2r
=2r(a)
so r(a)=0.5r(b)
