Question
A woman is on an escalator moving at 2.0m/s at 30 degrees above the x-axis. At the same time there is a man walking along the floor (x-axis) in the postive x axis at 4.0m/s/
a) Write one equation relating the relative velocities of the ground (G), women (W) and man (M)
b) By drawing a triangle of vectors, determine the approximate direction of the velocity of the woman relative to the man. USE GRAPHIC METHOD (that means not to break it in components or use law of cosines).
Thank you very much. I would really appreciate it if all work would be shown as I'm try to learn this concept. :)
Explanation / Answer
a) Vmg = 4 i m/s
Vwg = 1.732 i + 1 j m/s
Vmw = 2.268 i - 1j m/s
b)Vwm = -2.268i +1j m/s
