Question
A contact achromatic doublet ( with focal length fy in the yellow) is made from two types of glass. crown
glass which has a refractive index of 1.50768 for red light (n1R), 1.50100 for yellow light (n1Y)) and 1.52321
for blue light (n1B), and the flint glass which has a refractive index of 1.61211 for red light (nR2), 1.62300 for
yellow light (n2Y) and 1.63758 for blue light (n2B). It is designed to act as an achromat for red and blue light.
If the crown glass is biconvex, find the radii of curvature for all four surfaces which comprise the doublet, if
the compound lens is to have a focal length (fy) of 15cm.
